Indiahoma Public School

Address: 307 Chebahtah Street, Indiahoma, Oklahoma.

Indiahoma is a very small town, so for some people it might be not the right experience. There are not a lot of activities, but you will find friends very fast in this small community.

www.indiahoma.k12.ok.us

Size of school

The High School has around 20 student per age group, enrollment of 80 High School students, official school type: Class B (the smallest category, next bigger types are A, AA, AAA, 4A and so on)

Requirements

No special requirements, this school is meant to be fair, so just turn in all your exercises papers and homework in time and study for the weekly tests you write in every class and you will get A’s on your report cards easily.

Extracurricular Activities

Academics, softball, basketball, Volleyball, baseball, cheerleading, FFA (agriculture). Since Indiahoma Public Schools is very small, sport is the most important event for the whole town, so don’t be shy, the best way to make new friends is to be a part of the sport teams, even if you might be just a benchwarmer or waterboy. The bus drives are the best of all, you get the chance to talk with the others, during school hours this is almost impossible because the breaks between classes are just five minutes, and you get the chance to talk to the cheerleader who are supporting the basketball team.

Guidance

There are no councils hired for the students, but the principle will help if there are any problems with others or with the class schedule.

School Fees

No school fees, but to enroll in America in any high school you have to be in a exchange student program which costs about 10.000 DM.

My Evaluation

There is no ranking possible, because I have made good experiences, but I know other exchange students who didn’t .

Plattsmouth High School

Plattsmouth is a little town in Nebraska of about 6500 people, 18 miles south of Omaha, Nebraska’s biggest city. For more information on Plattsmouth, Plattsmouth High School and everything else you may want to know about Plattsmouth, check out

www.plattsmouth-ne.com

phs.jpg (12509 Byte)

Size of school

Plattsmouth High School belongs to the Plattsmouth Community School District, which owns an elementary school, a middle school, a high school, and an alternative school. There are about 550 students that attend PHS..

Requirements

There are no special requirements to enroll in PHS once you are accepted at an exchange organization. I don’t know though if you have to have a certain grade point average to enroll if you want to do the exchange on a private basis.

School and Extracurricular Activities

They offer a pretty wide variety of classes, reaching from English and Spanish to maths, sciences, social studies and computer - business classes to "exotic" classes such as cooking and journalism. There are about 15 to 20 students per class. PHS offers the usual variety of extra curricular activities, especially sports. There is American football, basketball, wrestling, volleyball, golf, track, and soccer. You can also participate in things like math and science club, jazz band, swing choir, and so on. Their music program is pretty good.

Guidance

Students are being counseled by two professional guidance counselors; they provide the kids with information and help concerning the selection of classes and advice if they want to continue studying after high school, and so on.

School Fees

There are no school fees at PHS; although you will have to calculate about $3 per day for lunch.

My Evaluation: ++++++

They have some pretty good teachers, but of course there is always the problem that the American school systems puts all students of different IQ´s together in one high school; so the variety of subjects in some required classes (such as social studies) is sometimes a bit smaller than in other countries. Williamsburg: Lafayette High School

Address: 4460 Longhill Road - Williamsburg, Virginia 23188

Williamsburg and James City County is a nice suburban area in the Hampton Roads. Bigger cities close by are Norfolk (home to the Atlantic fleet) and Virgina Beach with a nice seaside. The main attraction of the city is 'Colonial Williamsburg', a little part of the city that has been rebuilt to resemble colonial times. The campus of the College of William and Mary is a major part of the city.

Lafayette High School Online

lhs.jpg (21956 Byte)

Size of school

The High School has about 1400 enrolled students in the grades 9 to 12 (Freshmen, Sophomore, Junior, Senior). The official school type is Class AA.

Requirements

There are no special requirements and most of the teachers at this school are very fair, so just do all your homework in time and study for the weekly tests and your final exams you write in every class and you will get A’s on your report cards easily.

Extracurricular Activities

The school has very good sport teams. The Football team won the State Championship in 2001 and was 2nd in the 2002 season. Other teams include soccer, basketball, baseball, golf, and swimming. But there are also academic clubs, the school newspaper and best of all the yearbook team. An interesting club is Model UN in which you play the United Nations and discuss important international topics at conferences with participants from other schools. That might sound a little geeky but is definitely fun.

Guidance

The guidance department offers great help finding the right course for you which is very important as you only have four different courses each semester.

School Fees

There are no school fees, but to enrol in any high school in the US you have to be in an exchange student program. Lunch is quite good for an American High school and costs about $2.50 per day.

My Evaluation

For US standards LHS is quite a liberal high school with mostly kind people. Williamsburg and the area are fun, if you know where to go, as Williamsburg itself does not offer many things to do. There is a lot of military in the area and Camp Peary (training base for the CIA) though.

Evergreen Valley High School

Address: 3300 Quimby Road, San jose, California

http://ev.ca.campusgrid.net/home
